Call for papers for National Irrigation Workshop

Department of Irrigation (DOI) in collaboration with Nepal Engineers' Association (NEA), INPIM/Nepal is organizing a two-day National Workshop on long-term plan for Irrigation sector in Nepal. Its main objective is to review and revisit the irrigation sector of the National Water Plan and to identify what has been achieved and how it needs to be fine tuned to address the present national opportunities and challenges.

DOI/NEA would like to call papers for the workshop from all experts and professionals related to this field . Papers are expected to belong to one of the following sub-themes:

- Present status to irrigation development and management vis-a-vis the projection of the National Water Plan.
- Interim plan and its alignment with National Water Plan
- Integrated water resources management (IWRMP)
- New approaches and programs in the irrigation sector
- Poverty focus in irrigation development and management
- How to make irrigation more inclusive and gender balanced?
- Suitable modalities of private sector involvement in irrigation
- Enhancement of irrigation system efficiency and service delivery

The papers will be reviewed by a Review Committee. The schedule of paper submission is as follows:

Final date of submission of abstracts: 31st Jan. 2008
Selection of papers by review committee: 8th Feb. 2008
Deadline for submission of full papers: 2nd March 2008
Date of the workshop: 12 & 13 March 2008

The abstracts should be no more than 200 words and should contain all the features of the main paper in brief.
